La Anunciación (Film)
Amalia, spiritualist old woman, has just become a widow. She lives in a small, last floor-apartment of an old building,with Cristobal, her 10 year-old grandson and with his younger son, Mayito, who is not at home most of the time. Amalia summons her sons in order to read their father's Will. Her sons: Ricardo, revolutionary engineer, lives and works in a humble, small provincial town; Margarita, architect, lives in the United States where she has formed a family; and Mayito, bohemian musician and poet; they all live separate worlds. This reunion serves the brothers to settle some accounts of their lives.
Amalia, a faithful believer, falsifies the father's legacy aiming at reconcilement. During a séance, calling the dead husband's spirit, he speaks through Amalia's grandson. Surprisingly, the spirit really speaks and reveals the existence of the legitimate document. When they all are about to read the Will in order to attack it, the grandson tears it up and throws the document out the window. Finally, he recovers the real Will and keeps it.
El Ciclo de Cine Cubano, del Miami Dade College y la organización FUNDarte presentan el estreno en los Estados Unidos de la más reciente película del director de La Bella del Alhambra, Enrique Pineda Barnet, titulada La anunciación, en el Teatro Tower el martes 29 de septiembre durante dos funciones únicas a las 7:00 y a las 9:00 p.m., con entrada gratis por ser una programación especial.
En la desvencijada y compleja sociedad cubana actual, específicamente en el legendario Vedado habanero Amalia, una anciana espiritista, acaba de enviudar. Vive con Cristóbal, su nieto de 10 años, y su hijo menor, Mayito, en el último apartamento del edificio que hace esquina en el cruce de las calles 12 y 23. La viuda convoca a la familia dividida para darles a conocer el Testamento Moral de su esposo, el difunto Octavio. Al encuentro concurren sus hijos: Ricardo, ingeniero revolucionario, que trabaja administrando una granja de pollos y vive en un humilde y recóndito pueblo de provincia; Margarita, arquitecta, residente en Estados Unidos, donde ha constituido familia y Mayito, buscavidas y cantautor. El cónclave familiar reanima viejas diferencias pero pone las cartas sobre la mesa a favor de una posible reconciliación. En espera de la lectura del documento dejado por el patriarca, no pocos acontecimientos tendrán lugar dentro del apartamento, un micromundo que pudiera ser Cuba, desgarrada por las incompatibles posiciones ideológicas de sus conciudadanos tanto dentro como fuera de la isla. Las entradas para La anunciación serán entregadas por orden de llegada y se limitan, estrictamente, a la capacidad del teatro.
